Introduction & Functions

Food Directorate Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is an attached Department. There are 1,499 personnel working in Food Directorate which includes 237 Executive and remaining ministerial and other staff members. The Department is organized down at the Divisional and District Level. The divisional offices headed by Deputy Director Food (BS-18), whereas the District Food Controller holds the charge of Field Office at District Level.

 Functions

The Department has the following role to perform as per Khyber Pakhtunkhwa “Rules of Business” 1985: 

1. Procurement, Storage and Distribution of Wheat.
2. Prices of Food Items.
3. Fixation of Minimum Guaranteed price of Sugar Cane.
4. Implementation of Sugar Cane Development Cess Rules.
